WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. At the Tongariro enquiry, Captain T. H. .Ghudley, Marine Superintendent of the Shaw Savitt Company, and formerly commander of the Pakeha, considered thai the course set by Captain . Makepeace was a safe one in fine weather. In the' circumstances he .would .have seen that the bearings were taken, and checked them himself. . ' G. B.
