THE NEW ZEALAND WAR CONTIN GENT ASSOCIATION

[ The Mayor {Mr C. J. Harley) lias rei ceived .the following letter from Mr Cluxha Mackenzie: —"The War Contingent Association has decided to commence publishing a foi'tnightly paper.. The i Chronicles of the N.Z.E.F. Its primary purpose is to keep the people back in ; New Zealand* in closer touch with all that is going on in connection with the ' New Zealand troops over here, their progress while in hospital, admissions and discharges, socfa.l and personal items, and generally as far as possible a report of all that is happening concerning hospitals, clubs, canteens, hostels and the like. The various works of the Association. will be reported iupon, arid New Zealand ers will see in what direction contributions are being expended. Literary articles from the troops will complete the pages, andi altogether, though not ma'kfing any claim to pretensions, it should; be a- very jolly paper. It is to be sold as nearly as possible at cost price, though, should any return be made, it is suggested that it should go to a fund for the benefit of returned soldiers. The price will be 6d a copy. The date of publication is to be so arranged that the papers may just catch the outward bound' American mails, so that hospital reports will reach New Zealand as quickly as possible. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in establishing circulation. We should be very glad if subscriptions and addresses couldi be collected and forwarded through you to Mr Leonard Tripp, War Relief Association, Wellington. Subscription, 10s. The first dssue will follow in about a month, andi they will be posted. A circulation is desired' as large and as soon as possible, for such being the case, a larger number will be available for free distribution here, and the cost in Aew Zealand! lowered. We hope that our venture will be a success, inasmuch as it wil'L be acceptable to relatives and friends in New Zealand. We expect also that it will prove welcome among the men in (France, with its news of those in hospital and its records of all that transpires here." Mr Harley is prepared to receive subscriptions.
