GERMANS STUNNED
BY RAPIDITY OF FRENCH ATTACKS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. SePit-. 22, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 21. A French semi-official messags savs •the Germans, stunned by the rap diitv of the French advance north of the Somme, took some days to recover and then decided that they must counterattack. The yonly succeeded in making a fresh show of impatience to retake the lost grund. Fifty thousand were employed in wild' boar assaults which were of a most powerful description. The fighting at Prize Farm especially, was "violent. Here on four occasions the attacking masses from Comjbles in close formation were literally pounded to atoms. The same occurred at Bouisesaneiives.
