Sir Douglas HJaig reports: —-The New Zealand ers repulsed continuous strong counter-attacks southward of the Ancre. NEW ZEALANDERS INFLICT HEAVY LOSSES. FURTHER BRITISH ADVANCE. (Australian and N.Z. -Cable Association.) (Rec'. Sept. 22, 11.35 a.in.^ LONDON. Sept. 21 Sir Douglas reports heavy rain. The Germans made many strong counter-at-tacks southward ot tihe Ancre. The New Zealanders 'beat off all the attacks, inflicting severe losses, a large number of dead remaining in trie lines. Some .prisoners have been taken. Desn&te -this (heavy fighting we advanced out front in this neighbour - hood. We carried' out several successful minor enterprises at other points.
