GERMAN WASTAGE

IN EXCESS OF PRODUCTION. GENERAL FALKENHAYN'S WARNING. (Australian and N.Z. Cablp Association.) (Rec. Sept. 21, 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 20. A captured document signed by General Falkenhayn while Chief of the German General Staff, on 24th August, states:—"The_ wastage of our guns during the last few months is considerahly in excess of production. This is equally true of our reserves and supplies of ammunition, whereof there is a. serious diminution. It is the duty of all ranks, and riot only of the .artillery, to endeavour to remedy this serious state of things. We must seriously endeavour to preserve material, otherwise it will be impossible to make good the losses and place new formations in the field."
