Recent responsible visitors to the front, including Lord Northcliffe, have teen impressed by the necessity for more men to make up the losses and enable the Army to continue a most vigorous offensive. A public campaign has been initiated asking the Government to immediately comb out the munitions -works and Government offices, where thousands ot young men are sheltering. The Daily Mail urges that the preferable course would be a most searching combing out, including exempted civil occupations, 'because men of 45 were unsuitable. It quotes Sir Douglas Haig to the effect that was is a young man's game. Numerous letters endorse the Daily Mail's contention. A wounded Australian officer from France says that another million men will he wanted before Germany can be beaten. GOVERNMENT TAKING ACTION. LONDON," Sept. 20. The Government is appointing a committee to comb out military eligibles em ployed in the civil service.
