Caminnission'eTs appointed to enquire regarding the aliens on gumiields in North Auckla.nd conclude their finding as follows:—"We are decidedly of opinion thai the existence of large bodies (if -Austrian subjects in tho North Auckla.nd districts is jrot attended with any danger to the command ty." The report adds :—'"Commissioners arc convinced thai, these men possessed no arm?, except some shot ;guns a.nd odd fjea rifles and semw revolvoi's. which they willingly handed 1 to the police. We are also l satisfied that tho men do not drill. The public feeling is overwhelmingly against intenvinen:, or segregation of the men.
