Another bis "Metro*' picture screened for the first time last night drew a crowded house at the Theatre Royal. It is entitled "My Madoima," and is graced by the beautiful; acthag of the beautiful and gfft-ed Olga Preirova. She takes the part cf Lucille, a fashionable woxan of bad repute, who befriends a struggling artist and eventaiaily enables ham t.win fortune and success. They marry, baat their happiness is overshadowed by the intrigues of a baron and has wile, with whom they become acquanted. The ■baroness seeks to ensnare the artist, Robert, while the baron connives at this and makes love to Lucille. When- the ibaron is killed by a workman he had--wronged Robert- is*accused and convicted of the murder, and sentenced to Hie imprisonment. The sny-stery is unravelled, - however, by a death-bed confession, which the workman most fortunately makes to "Lucille. Robert regains his freedom, and a dramatic reunion takes place before the (portrait of Lucille as the Madcnna, which had first made the artist's fame. In acting, staging and photography the picture can be spoken of only in terms of the highest comnaenmendation. "My Madonna" is supported by a War Topical. "Iron Rivals,'" a fifejendid drama, and "There's no Place like Home" a splendid schoolboy stiory, which were all screened to special orchestral accompaniments and thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience present.
