(Rec. Sept. 20. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 19. Mr Lloyd George, interviewed, said they must not expect overmuch from the "tanks.* but so far they had done well. Credit was due to Colonel Churchill, who enthusiastically- took up the idea of making them long ago and converted me. The Ministry of Munitions immediately went ahead, and Mr Swinton, electrician, assisted valuably. SUCCESSFUL RAIDS. (Rec. Sept. 20. 9.30 a.m.) PARIS, Sept. 19. Sir Douglas Haig reports : —The general situation is unchanged. Three raids at Richebourg captured prisoners. Our casualties were very slight. Five more of our aeroplanes failed to AMERICAN ORDERS'. (Rec Sept. 20, noon.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 19. The American War Department has ordered 27 machines from the Holt Company similar to the British Juggernauts. They will be used primarily for pulling big guns, but will be convertible into moving fortresses. GERMAN COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. Sept. 20. 11.15 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, Sept. 19. A German communique says :—East of Oinohy and before Combles we yieldedsome trenches. The French temporarily penetrated our trenches west of the slope at Mort Homme.
