COUNTER-ATTACK REPULSED
LARGE CAPTURES OF ARTILLERY (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sept. 19. Sir Douglas Haig states that to-day's advance was important, and numerous prisoners were taken as the result of the highly successful operation at the Quadrilateral. Counter-attacks northward of Flers ■were repulsed with loss, and wo made progress. Hostile troops massing for a counterattack at Les Boeufs and Morval were caught by our artillery fire and dispersed. Five heavy howitzers, two field guns, and three heavy and three light trench mortars were captured. In addition to those reported since Friday, several enemy aeroplanes have been brought down. Four of ours are missing.
