Artillery, and a Camel Corps, left Berelabd on- the 6th Sept., with a view to a reconnaissance upon the enemy westward of El A rich. The column reached the Turkish position at Bir El Mazar at dawn on the 17th. when there was a sharp engagement. We penetrated trenohes at several points and inflicted considerable casualties, while our artillery shelled the camps. The attack apparently surprised the Tujsks.
