Artillery, and a Camel Corps, left Berelabd on- the 6th Sept., with a view to a reconnaissance upon the enemy westward of El A rich. The column reached the Turkish position at Bir El Mazar at dawn on the 17th. when there was a sharp engagement. We penetrated trenohes at several points and inflicted considerable casualties, while our artillery shelled the camps. The attack apparently surprised the Tujsks. Our air craft fired on several parties, including German officers, who were rapidly riding back to El Arich.
