A G-ERMAiN COMMUNIQUE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) DONDON,, Sept. 17. A German communique says: "There is increased activity on the whole of Prince Leopold's front, northward of Pins'k. Enemy attacks westward of Luzk on a 20-kilonietr<f front from, Zaturcky to Pastomyty, advancing- in numerous waves, completely failed, with most severe losses. In some places the slaughter was fearful-. Most vigorous attacks against Bothmer's army 'between the Fereth and the Strypa, northward of L'jorow, and also attacks against General von Eben, -broke dow/h The enemy, with strong forces, are attacking the Archduke Karl upon the Marajowka."
AN' AUSTRIAN' REPORT.
AQIIST'EKDAM, Sept. 18. An Austrian communique says:—"The Russians made extraordinarily "unsuccessful efforts to shake the allied line. Superior forces attacked south-west of Dorna Watra "between Kapul and Yzemahora, and south-west of Brzezany, but were everywhere repulsed. Numerous waves of troops, i'ncJfud'ing reinforced Guards, attempted, a master stroke at Luzk, but mostlj- ibroke down. Where they were successful our counter-attack threw them cut."
