ALLEGED LIBEL
| (United Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, This Day. Tlie case of a claim of £IOOO for " alleged libel, Noel Peat versus tne Greymouth Evening Star, was commenced to-day before Mr Justice Sim and a common jury. The subject of the claim is in regard to a paragraph appearing in. the local columns of the paper stating, "A country shopman with pro-German or at least down-hearted British tendencies, has been engaged for some time exploiting the residents of his ln'strict. '* i The paragraph also alleged that ladies ..waited on the shopman for patinotic purposes, and had not only been refused assistance, but were subjected to a tirade of abuse such as could, only emanate fro ma creature of Humiish proclivities.
