INTERVENTION PROSPECTS
! PEACE PARTY IX TURKEY. LONDOX, Sept. 5. The Daily Mail's correspondent at Athens, writing on Sunday, .says: "The announcement, that the Allies are 1 only acting against Germans and proGermans has tranquilised Greek fears. It is increasingly the opinion here that Greece will shortly join the Allies. M. Gournaris sorrowfully watched the arrival of the Allied Fleet from the roof of his hotel. M. Ver.izelo.s has informed Roivmania that her entry will incalculably affect Greece. Morally- and materially she leads us, lie said. Complete mobilisation is doubtful. Probably a small force will "be organised and gradually strengthened. Should Bulgaria separately make peace the Greek military preparations will be continued against Turkey. "It is reported from Macedonia that the 6th Division and Greek forces have obtained freedom, of movement, and are concentrating at Seres and Kavala." Mr Bourchier, correspondent of the London Times at Bucharest, says : —"ln view of the extremely "lutions policy hitherto pursued, the Roumanian Government's intervention indicates that it holds the strong conviction that the Allies will -win. Roumania's entry is exercising a great moral effect on the enemies' armies and populations. The peace parties in Turkey and Bulgaria have long been on the increase, and only the occupation by the Gei-mam forces prevented them from insisting on peace. "The Constantinople pacificists' are in great numbers, and are awaiting the chance to overthrow the adventurers and charlatans who brought Turkey to ruin, whilst great discontent prevails among the masses in Bulgaria, where the demonstrators include many soldiers. "The decision of Greece to fight on the side of the Allies is confidently expected."
