CORRESPONDENCE

; 'll"C. OF WAR. ; 'To the Editor.) I Sir,—l noticed in last Friday's issue I whoie 'Snort" mentions, that a protest • was made'in reference to the single rope • pull in the Druids' ITU!, between Miss jI is wood .11 id Miss Ewers. Why was, ! "Spirt" not sport enouu'ii to mention it I at the time, ir.ste.id of allowing a forti niarht to go by. without making a oomI plaint about the pull. I am sure Miss I Ewers, who is much less in weight, l would have challenged Miss Inwood for a second pull to decide which was the winner. I can positively say that no protest was made -within my hearin-r or the winner's, either. As rcratds. a friendly pull as "Spoil" row calls it, no such thine was asked for by me, 1 simply asked Miss Inwood if she would have a' single rope pull with one of the Belgian team. Miss Inwood at once accepted the offer.' It was Miss Inwood that Miss P'.wers wanted to null on the strength of the challenge which had been advertised during Paddy's Market, Had it- been j"st an exhibition pull, then one of the other ladies present would have been approached instead of the champion. I uii'jlit mention that I was not under any misapprehension whatever, nor did iny memory fail me once on this occasion. Snort mentioned in his first correspondence that it was a strenuous pull, second that it was an exhibition pull, and thirdly that it was a friendly pull. Was it not owing to the conglomeration that "Sport" was unable to see who had won. T am. CAPTAIN BELGIAN TEAM.
