LABOUR UNION "JOB'S COMFORTERS." [United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Wedncs. On the arrival of the steamer lonic vcsterday officials of tlie Labour Unions waited on the immigrants and informed them that tho labour market was greatly overstocked. It was pointed out that the Painers' Union alone has 60 first-class men on the books. lhe majority of the immigrants professed their willingness to- take any work, and the officiaus state that this will glut the unskilled labour market, in which many were already unemployed. The secretary of the Wharf Labourers Union states that 300 or 400 members are not earning a living wage, and points out that if this state of things prevails during the summer months it is anticipated that the position win be very serious when the winter arrives, with ite enforced cessation of outdoor operations.
