The Council met at 7 o'clock last night. Present : The Mayor, Gra Levien, Buuny, Trask, Graham, Hcorhpuse, Hounsell, and Little. The Surveyor was instructed to look into the.niatieh The Works Committee reported in favor of the Council contributing a fair proportion towards erecting a new bell tower, provided the Insurance Companies subscribed towards' it. They also recommended that it Should be placed at the corner of Hardy and Wel-lington-streets. Adopted. — With reference to an application from Dr Irvine relative to a drain, the Committee stated their opinion •that Ihey. could ..not fecbniqseiid it as they did n.ot l,hink it desirable tjiat there should be drainage into the Sel Pond. Agreed t6.— Relative to the Gloucester-street ditch the Committee reported that a sewer would soon have to be built, and in the meantime they freconimehded tbat the ditch be cleared, out end the levels attended to. Adopted.— The Committee further recommended that the Haven Road be patched after the next rain ; also that ihe nuisance existing under th« Harmonic Hall, of which complaint had been made, should be removed. Resolved, That tha Secretary of the Harmonic .Society be communicated with on the subject. The (Jig and Waterworks Committee recommended that an application frbrri Mr .Warrsn and Mr .Harris for an extension of the gas service be granted on certain conditions. Agreed to..
