Passengers: Misses Blundell, Bollard, O'Connell (2), Patching. Ryana (2\ Wilson, Mesdernee Adams and 2 children, Cato, Ward, Wastney, Winstanley, Bishop Redwood, Rev J O'Malley. Rev Cato, Messrs Burn, Colt, Fascar, Fearnley, Jones, Johnson, Kirton, Primmer. Raine, Stap!e3, Wakefield, Ward, Wilson, Wie-enhaverp, end 13 steerage. — cutter Planet, 12, Thorne, -from Motueka.
Captain Edwin reported at 1.35 p.m :— "Bad weather approaching between north-west and south-west. Glass will further rise." j The Wallace arrived from Waugantii this morning, and leaves fov Wellington direct at nin° o'clock to-night. The Kennedy 'arrived at Hokitika this morning. She reports heavy sea and flood ■and S.W. gale. The Lady Barkly returned from Golden Bay last night. Tbe Wakatn will arrive here on Sunday morning, and sail for Wellington and Wanganui at 6 p.m. on Monday. The Wanaka arrived at Wellington this morning. She returns here on Tuesday morning, sailing at 5 p.m. same day for Picton, Wellington, and South. _ The Westport will arrive here from Wellington on Monday morning, and sail for Westport nt 2 p.m "same day. The Hawea arrived in harbor at 2.15 p.m. to-day, having left Port Chalmers on Monday Lyttelton on Tuesday, Wellington at 1.15 p.m yesterday, nnd Picton at 7.30 last night. She fails for Wellington, Taranaki, and Manukau at 4 pm -to-morrow, witb. the 'Frisco mail, and taking excursionists to the former port. The Croydon Lass has h ;en placed on tbe hard for ths purpoa; of having her bottom examined, she having been aground during her passage from Lyttelton to this port. The schooner Ciio is overdue from Lyttelton to Waitapu. A nnrober of vessels bound from southern porta to lhc West Coast have for some days past been endeavoring to get round the Spit, but without success, and they ate still knrckine about in the Bay. The Orient steamship Orient arrived on the 7th in=t. at Melbourne from London, with dates viz Brindisi to the 4th of last month ; thus despatches from London reached Adelaide by her in twenty-nine and a-half days and Melbourne in thirty-two days. Such a performance, says the Age, has never before been equalled, and goes far to show what may be done by such a class or steamers.
