The Kennedy left Wellington at 5 30 p.m. yesterday, and arrived h-?re at 6 30 am. today, after a fmart passage of eleven hours. She sails for Wes> Coast ports at 5 o'clock this afternoon. The Lady Barky sailed on an excursion trip to Motueka this morning with a fair Dumber of ras=*en_ers. The Hawea reached Wellington this mom- ' ing, and left for Lyttelton in the aiternoon. She returns here early on Tuesday morning, sailing at 1 p.m. same day for Picton, Wellingtn, and South. Captain Edie, late chief officer of the s.s. Ringarooma, and at ono time master of the Waitaki. has been appointed to the command of the Penguin. Litest alvices from Lcnlon announce that the fine iron barque P-=ru, 683 tons register, was to leave for NelsDn direct at the end of October. The Wanaka arrived here at 8 30 am. to day, having left Port Chalmers on Monday, Ak-jros and Lyttelton on Tuesday, Wellingtrnat3'3o p.m. yesterday, and Pictcn at 12. o'clock last night, arriving here as above She sailed for Taranaki and Manukau by the ■ came tide at 11-30 a.m. The Grafton arrived in harbor at 7 30 p.m. yesterday, and sailed for Wellington and . Lyttelton half an hour later. Caplain Johnston reports plenty of water on the ' West Coast bars. The Grafton, with ss full load of coal and drawing 10ft 6in, c.me out of Greymouth with plenty of water under her, and the Westport, with 370 tons of coal .on board, and drawing 12ft, crossed the Wtstport bar on Tuesday without touching tbe ground, there being 14ft 6in of water in the channel.
