He said he had no power to refuse, as tho men were not sentenced for felony. This will, probably result in all tha Ngatirinuis dispersing. Sir W. Fox passed through this morning to meet Mr Bryce at Oeo New Plymouth, Friday. Major Brown addressed the electors of the town last evening. He declared in favor of a land tax as introduced by- Sir G. Gtoy and assistance being given to denominational schools. He was in favor of a limited protection to local industries. A vote of confidence was carried. Titoko Waru was brought up at the Police Court thia morning and charged by Thomas A. L?,ck, hotelkeeper at Manaia, with haviDg on the 21st October _ssd threatening worda to the effect that he would burn down the hotel and murder the women and children ; also with saying at Fort Rolleston, Parihaka; "Do you tbink my people would run away from such a lot of men as you bave brought here ? Have the Europeans forgotten Turuturu Mokai and Ngutu-o-te-Manu? Our day will yet come," or words to that effect. Mr Standish appeared for the prosecutor and asked to have Tifcoko Waru bound over to keep tha peace. The case is now proceeding. Later. Titoko Waru was ordered to find two securities in £500 each to keep the peace for twelve months. In the meantime he will be kept in gaol till he finds the securities. Whan leaving the Court he shook bauds with Lloys, of the Manaia Hotel, ond told him to look sharp and get home. Titoko Waru was quite unconcerned and in defence said he simply knew nothing of what had been said in the evidence.
