LIFE IN TEXAS.
La wlesßneeß in Texas has reached euch a pitch that the citizens of OraDge, in that State, have, it is Btated, risen en masse, determined, if possible, to put affairs on a more satisfactory footing. The excitement has arisen out of a rather complicated " difficulty " which occurred the other day between O. L. Delno, a noted desperado, and a detective named Wood, in which Delno was shot and seriously wounded. Detective Wood escaped, and Charles Delno, brother of 0. L. Denlo, accused Sheriff Michael of aiding in tbe escape, and swore be would "get even with the sheriff." With this view he concoted a plan to assassinate the sheriff, and was helped by & settler and two negroes. The plan failed, but conspirators succeeded iv very seriously wounding the sheriff by leading him into an ambush. This incensed the citizens, who commenced shooting and hanging indiscriminately. They first captured and shot four negroes supposed to be implicated in the affair. They then captured and hanged to a tree the two negroes implicated in the crime. The white settler Delno was seized and put in gaoJ. One of tbe negroes was shot at and woimded, but managed to escape. He subsequently surrendered, was put in gap;!, whence he was taken by a body ot armed men, and, with another negrp, ehpt, their bodies being "filled with buckshot." Before dying they confessed that the gang had intended! amorig other things to burn the town of Orange.
