I cutter Planet, 12 } Thome, for Motneka. 2, cutter Mersey, is, Plane, for Wcitapu. Captain Edwin re-ports at 12.8 pm:— "Bad weather approaching; aay direction between Bovth and west and south-west. Glass will fall again soon, and wind backing." The Murray leaves Wanganui this afternoon for Westport. The Charles Edward leaves Greymouth ilm afternoon for Westport and Nelson. The Wanaka leaves Wellington at 1 p.m. to-morrow, will arrive here on Friday morning, and sail at 4 p.m on Saturday, for Wellington, Taranaki, and Manukau, taking the outward San Praucisco mail. The Waitaki left Taranaki at]oa/m today in the face of fresh southerly winds. She will arrive here early to-morrow morning, and sail at 3 o'clock 'in the afternoon f.r Picton, Wellington. *uid Lyttelton. The Wallace arrived frjrn Wellingloa at 12 30 this morning, after a rough passage. She left that port on Monday afternoon, aud proceeded to Titiraoga, where she landed some passengers, afterwards resum'n? her voyage. After comirg throush the French Pass a heavy "N.W. swell waa experienced, bat the steamer came slowly aloop, ccca siocally shipping large quantities of water, until nearly abreast cf the Croixelies, where the sea was lunnicg tremendously bigb, and the Wallace being deep took water on board by the ton. As it was impos.-ible to proceed ar>y further against such overwhelming odds ehe was put about at 9 a.m , uni returned to the Pa3s, where she can;p to an anchor opposite the Maori station. The sea havJDg subsided considerably duriDg the afternoon, fhg left there at 5 30, and rfnebed here a3 above. The Wallace sails for West Coast ports at 5 p.m. Captain Robert Peek, for many years in command of the ship Waimate and other Home traders, has left the maritime service and gote into business in London as a shipbrcker and insur&Dce agent. His many frit nis in New Zealand will be glad to hear that he is succeeding in his new vocation
