Serious rioting took place afc Mallow, in County Cork, yesterday between the troops and people. The former fired upon, and then charged the rioters, several of whom were severely injured before they were dispersed. A large meeting under the auspices of the League, which waß beicg held yesterday at Limerick, and was attended by a great many people, was suppressed by order of the Government, a large force of police being despatched to disperse the assemblage. Recent speeches and letters by English democrats have denounced in strong terms the course now being pursued by the Government in Ireland. Calcutta, Oct. 17. Telegrams have been received from Afghanistan announcing that the Ameer's Turkestan army has occupied Herat, which has been evacuated by Ayoub Khan. Constantinople, Oct. 17. It has transpired th*t the Sultan has recalled the mission which was recently despatched to the Khedive of Egypt.
