WELLINGTON.

(From our own correspondent.) Sunday night. The Parihaka meeting takes place tomorrow, and is looked forward to with great interest, as much may depend on Te Whiti's utterances. Special arrangements bave been made by the, Government to obtain full and early reports of wbat 'passes. ' .It 1 is known that several prominent West Coast chiefs have adopted a somewhat derisive tone of late towards Te Whiti's followers, and they j bave been beard to tell the latter that Te Whiti is deluding and making slaves of tbem. There is a good deal of grumbling now and : then among Te Whiti's people, who are 4is* j satisfied at the long delay in.. the fulfilment of his promises of supernatural.a id in tha j discomfiture of the Europeans, it is hard ! to foresee what influence this may exercise on. Te Whiti's action, but ; :it. ia scarcely likely to be. of a favorable nature. The Government preparations still continue steadily, and I learn privately that 1 thsir plans:are in a forward state. So far as I can judge the intended operations, when the proper time for action arrives, have every prospect of being thoroughly successful in finally sweeping away the native difficulty. -Nothing, however, will be done for some time unless tbe natives should precipitate matters, which is not thought likely. Every expedition is being used to get the new licensing districts ready for bringing into practical operation, the Act wbich came into force on the Ist inst.— The immigration and emigration returns for the quarter are hot yet complete, but a rough balance has been struck which gives tbe arrivals in the Colony during the quarter; as 1810, and' tbe departures 1805, leaving a balance, of, five ju favor of the Colony. ;
