The Waitaki arrived .it Wellington to-day. She returns here on Tuesday, sailing at 2 p.m came clay for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Cspiain Wheeler, of the Wakatipu, arrived here by the Pensuiu this moruing on leave of absence. Captain Kennedy takes that steamer to Sydney this trip. Her cutwater has been removed, decks and top sides caulked, and a new topsail yard made, a pang of shipwrights having been at work at her for the last few days. The Penguin left Dunedin at 3 p.m. on Monday, called at Abiroi, Lytteltou, Wellington, and Picton, leaving tho latter port at 4 a.m. today, and arriving here at noon. She sails for Mannkau at 11 o'clock to-night. The barque Chaudiere, which is well known at this port, is now en her way from Newcastle to 1 im?ra She is in command of Captain Pitfield and originally came from London to Sydney, proceediog thence to Newcastle.
