Death of President Garfield.
Washington, Sept. 19 (evening.) President Garfield died to-day at Long Branch. September SO. The accounts to hand this morning from Long Branch state that the President died Calmly at 10 50 last night. At 10.25 he was sleeping quietly when ha awoke with & pain in his heart and in fifteen minutes breathed his last. Mrs Garfield was present at the death-bed. In consequence of President Garfield's decease the Cabinet has summoned General Chester Arthur, Vice-President, to fill the Presidency for the unexpired term of nearly three years and six months.
