Tha following is the report of the Canterbury Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday, September 9th :— There is little or do alteration to note in the state of the market during the past week. Business ha 3 been quiet, aDd much upon a par with the preceeditg one. Latest advices from England, reporting a downward tendency in the value of wheat, has had the effect of still further unsettling the market and checking any disposition to speculation. The weather on the whole has been favorable, although, on some lands there is too much wet, and in sonio cases the land has had to be resown. Wheat — There is co change to report in values during the week. Good milling 6ample3 are worth from 4s 6d to 4* 9.1 f.o.b, ; second quality, 43 to 43 3d fob.; chick ■wheat, 2s 93 to 33 3d per bushel in Christchurch. Oats — There is no alteration to note in value.?. Good f-tout milling samples, 2s 3d to 2s 4d f.o.b. ; fted qua ity, Is 10d to 2s in Christchurch. Barley — The improved demand which was visible last week is still apparent. Fair to prime, 2s 91 to 3s 2d per bushel ; medium quality, 2s 3d to ?s Gd ; feed, Is 9d to 2s per bn?hel. All these prices are delivered in Christchurch. Poatoes — The intelligence from intercolonial ports has been of so discouraging a pature tnat business in this.article of produce is comparatively at a standstill for the present. Prices nominal. Grass Seed — The demand ha 3 sensibly slackened, but prices are unaltered. Well cleaned parcels are worth from 5s Gd to 6s per bushel : cocksfoot, 3.} to 3Jd per lb. Cheese and Butter— 3d to 3M for the former, the latter is unsaleable.
