CHINESE VENGEANCE.

A Sydney despatch, dated 9ib August say*.:—" About eight o'clock list night a Chinees hawker named, Kg Sod, shot two men Darned Jolid Smith and John M Cann, in Pee'etreet, T&mworth. The murder took place with-n a few yards of the Commercial Hotel, The Chinaman had been for some time past a resident in Tamworth, and was considered a quiet and inoffensive man. He was camped oo a piece of ground near Branbrey's oyster saloon, and bad been about town selling vegetables at several hotels During the afternoon some larrikins *ere teasing him, calliog after him " Paddy," which seemed greatly to esagp6rete him. At 8 o'clock tbr&e men— John Smith, John M'Cann, Bnd John Donald— who only arrived at Temwortb that afternoon by the 4 o'clock mail train and were strangers, were passing along tbe street clo*e to the oyeter ealoon. The Chinaman was standing on tbe footpath, ani luddenly, without any warning or provocation, he drew a revolver, and exclaimed, " I teacbee you te»«ee me|" fired first at Smith, then at M'Csno, and then n third shot at himself. Aill the abote took deadly effect. Smith died iaatantaneoudy. M'Cann was ebot ucder the arm. The bullet enterel his longs. The whole town was soon in a stftte of. commotion. The men wer^ <aken into tha Commercial Hotel. Dr* Fenn and White were gent for, and they arrived on the acene. They searched for the bell unsuccessfully, M'Caon is rapidly sinking, and has lost the me of the lower portion of his limb?. The Chinaman died immediately. The police took poaseeaion of tbe bodies and effects of the murdered men.
