T Duuehin, Saturday. J. K. Hooper the actor, who is well known in this city and Christchurch, committed suicide by hanging at his residence here last evening. When the body was found, life was quite extinct. It is believed that the cause was destitution and low spirits, he having been out of employment several months. His wife, Miss Bessie Vivian, is at present with a dramatic company in Christchurch. Wellington, Saturday. The third officer of the steamer Albion received serious injury to bis spine and body to-day, by falling down the steamer's hold. Chuistchdrch, Monday. At a meeting of the promoters of'tbe iarmers' Co-operative Association on Saturday it wan resolved to adort the title of " New Zealand," instead of " North Canterbury," Association and to increase the capital to £250,000,
