Lokdon, August 14. The Orient Company's steamship John Elder, which left Melbourne on the 18th June, arrived at Plymouth yesterday. Meetings were held last night ia the city and at various other places in England, at which speeches were made and resolutions were passed expressing approval of the policy of tbe Government in regard to the Irish Land Bill. His artillery is reported to be sufficiently strong and fifteen of the Ameer's caDnon captured in th 9 battle of last month are iv consequence being sent to Herat.
