Mr Buckeri( ge further states that his Company were tmable to work their gro*Dd owing to great jealousies between the two Companies, dnd the high charges imposed upon them by he •' Perseverance Company for the use of the water and the right to work from ihe "Perseverance" ground. Mr Buckeri< ge concludes his memo by saying, " but ow ng to the great expense which it appealed would be necessary, and to the Company's Capital being exhausted, the claim yas ultimately abandoned, although the Shareholders and others believe tha,t there is a large amount of Gold on their;6wnand ihe 1 ' Perseverance ' claims." v ' T The "Perseverance Company" worked their ground from an incline shaft, and having inadequate pumping apparatus, were prevented from continuing work, a reporfcof Mr J. C. Richmond's to the Shareholders] of the "Perseverance Company," advocated operations from either Bedstead Gully [or Kelly's Creek. The Directors of " Johnston's United Company" have had an exhaustive survey made and numerous levels taken by Mr Rochfort, C.E., and have determired on acting on Mr Rochfort's advice to puc in a tunnel from Kelly's Creek, and tenders are now called to drive 400fc, when tie Quartz Reefs should be first met with, this drive will also thoroughly drain the ground Just outside of the Southern Boundary there is an ouccrop of Silver Ore, dipping .towards the Company's ground j this has'iot ' been ' worked, altEongb. specimens assayed gave a yield of over lOOzs per ton of ore. A ! deposit or lode, 6ft. wide, containing Yellow Sulphate of Copper in large quantity, found in the "Perseverance Company's" ground, and found by assay to yield about . 30 . E^r cent of copper, and it was also foujni rich in gold. Assay returns of Galeirarhtfve given over 70 per cent of lead and 30ojza. Silver to the ton.
