The report of the New Zealand Shipping Company to be presented at the annual meeting on Angnat 12th shows a profit for the year of £40,956 63 lod ; of this £25,000 will be appropriated to the Reserve Fund, bringing that up to £100,000. A dividend of ten per cent will absorb £12,500. Of the balance, £3 456 6s lOd will be carried forward. The Insurance fund has at its credit £6,423. Auckland, Friday. A petition in favor of the abolition of County Councils has now obtained signatures from the representatives of 51 Road Boards. The Hon James s Williamson offers to sell his Surrey Hill estate to the Council for £100,000 in debentures, on the proviso that the entire estate be reserved as a public park. The Auckland Gas Company have declared a dividend of 7a 6d per share. Several of the sharehold«« ipoke in {favor of a further redaction of gas to 8s 4d per thousand feet.
