That as the Colony, at great expense, has provided spans.for the obtßicing by its youth of ; degrees, it ; is unwise to do anythiug\ that wiil underrate the value of x&iyefaity/ education.- 2 : That if the Jj&ibe. thrown open to all graduates of any imtvei'sity who can pass a;n examination in law, this Colony will have pro--B^d as easy access to 'the Bar as any Colony. .3 That if the fees for adinissio.ft of .lawyers be abolished.the Government wilt have to provide libraries in tUe* various courts, as the fees are bow ■#|ql|y;used for that purpose. 4 That this. Society ii cannot, therefore, approve <jf >h.e : r.Bi]l intrddaced ' by Sir George Goreyj M:H.Bi, to ametid the Law Praclitipners Act, and believe that such legislati;qn; would. tend to lower the position o^thflj profession of the Law in New.. Zealand. 5. That already the Unusual fecihtteg :grarf teti by the Jaw ii "New: Zealand fo persons" eritefing the legal profession have prevented thejfew ZeaJ v$ P^ctiti6nerß*frpni obtaining admisBldhin other colonies and in the United Kingdom. 6. That if there is any di%ulfcv in persons obtaining university degrees without attending classes, provision can be made for examinations to be be\i to grant degrees to those seeking admission into the legal profession, even lhoagh they may not have attended classes. *
