PRODUCE MARKETS.
The following i 3 the report of the Canterbury Cora Exchange for the week ending Friday erening, the 22nd July, 1881 :— Business during the week has been extremely qriet, the bad weather which has prevailed for the last few days having augmented the torpidity which has been the chief characteristic of the grain trade for some time back; values in all lines of produce are unaltered, and there is no circumBtance which admits of comment. Wheat — Good to prime soand milling samples are worth from 3a 9d to 4s per bushel in Christchurch ; second-class milling samples, 3s 6d to 3s 8d in Christchurch ; chick wheat ranges from 2s 3d to 2a 9d, delivered in Christehurcb. Oats — There is no alteration in the demand, and prices are stationary at from 2s to 2s 2d per. bushel in Christchurch ; feed quality are saleable at from Is 10d to Is lid delivered in Christchurch. Barley — There is hardly so much inquiry during the week, but prices are substantially the same ; prime malting may still be quoted at from 2a 9d to 3s 6d per bushel, deliyered in Chri-tchurch ; second class malting 2a 3d to 2s 6d per bushel ; feed quality, la lOd to 2s per bushel. Grass Seed — The market does not exhibit any returning sign 3 of animation, but there is no alteration to note in Tallies. Good clean farmers' samples are woith from 4s 6d to 5s per bushel, delivered in Christchurch ; indifferently cleaned, according to sanple : cocksfoot, 3Jd to 3|d. Potatoes— The export of the tuber continues to assume tolerably large dimensions, and although prices hare not advanced the market appears to be more settled. Sales have taken place during the week at 40s per ton at suburban stations, within a radius of eight miles of Cbristchurch. This price is for immediate de-ivery. For forward delivery 453 per ton is about the maximum in all cases ; sacks are extra. Cheese and Butter — The condition of the market has not altered during the week. The former is worth from 3d to 3| per 1b j the latter 7J- to 8d per lb. Hay — The demand does not appear to have realised the expectations. The price is £2 10s to £2 15s in Christchurch.
