Wellington, Friday. ; It hwing been represented to the Central Board of Health hare by the Local Board of Health of the Borough of the Thames, that a. formidable infectious epidemic diseaee exists' witbin tha aaid borough, and tbat special' precautions are required to pretest the spread' of inch disease, a Proclamation has been; issued that it shall not be lawful for any person other than a medical man, pr oflcer of Local Board of Health, to enter into, or to visit acy house, knowing the sans to be; occupied by any parsons suffering from sucb disease ; or, being in such boose, to leave it, or to remove any articles therefrom, withont permisiion in writing from snch Looal Board of Health. The Juvenile Pinafore Company were flummerily brought to Auckland last night, as, owing to the prevalence of scarlet fever at the Thames, tke local Health Board had forbidden their matinee. The quarantine officer yesterday ref osed to recognise tbe local Board of Health for releasing tbe Hero's passengers, and telegraphed to the Government for instructions.; The latter instructed him io release them,* and though the Board of Health was sitting! be made no communication with tbem but! j proceeded to order their release himself.
