The annual meeting of the shareholders in the Union Insurance Company was held at noon to-day, when the balance sheet and report were read, showing a profit of £25,200 oa the y.arV business, and recommending a dividend of 10 per cent, leaving £12 500 to be carried to tfce reeerve fund, ahd £5200 to be carried forward to next year. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said the business of tbe company showed an increase during the past year of £13,400 over that of the previous year. The report and balance sheet were unanimously: adopted. A^ resolution was oarried authorising the Directors to declare inteiim dividends in future. Mr L. Nathan called attention to the desirability of the company, separately or iv conjunct! n with the other New Zealand companies, establishing a branch office in England. The Chairman promised that the Directora would carefully consider the matter.
