EXTRAORDINARY ABDUCTION PLOT.
The city of New York sms thrown into on excited state early in April hy a frustrated plot to abduct a child bs a mean a of extorting money. The family of Mr Louis Strnsburger, b wealthy jawellor, recf-ived (states The Times Philadelphia correspondent) during several weeks letters threatening to abi'uot hia daughter Rosa, aged 11, if 60,000301s were not paid. An attempt was made to abduct her, but failed, and the case was placed in the hands of the deteciive force. Tbe conspirators proposed tbet (he governess should appear in a certain Btreet, walking over p specified route, with the money in an envelope, dropping it when a pistol wee fired. Finally, on Thursday (17<h April), a letter came ordering this to be done again immediately. The governess started with an envelope containing b blank paper, and walking, ac instructed, along Sixty-first-street towards Fifth Avenue. A detective, by a circuitous route, entered Madison Avenue, next Sixty-first-street, as the governess came along. A pistol shot was fired; the governess dropped the envelope, and a man picked it up. The detective rushed after him, and BBcnflle ensued, during which tbe detective's pißtol;went off, aB he avere, accidentally. The ball entered the men's eye, instantly killing him. The accomplice who fired the pistol was afterwords captured. Other arrests have now been made. Tbe inculpated parties are all Germans, who came from Europe in October by the steamer with Mr Strasburger's family, whea the plot was formed. Full disclosures have been made, ond the apartment where the child was to bave been bidden has been dkcovired, as also baa been the fact that passages to Europß for the chief parties had been engaged. This case resembles the Charlie Roes abduction case bo much that it attracts general
