London, June 2. The Intercolonial wool show at the Crystal Palace was opened to*day by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught in the presence of a vast assemblage of people. In bis speech on tn« occasion His Royal Highness dwslt at length upon the importance of the staple thtn on exhibition. The only exhibitors representing Australian colonies ars Sir Samuel Wilson of Victoria and Messrs Fisher and Pitts of Adelaide. Some of the exhibits are not yet opened but it is expected that the greater portion will be on view is a fortnight. The awards are to be made in August. Arrived — Ship Pleiades from Lytt«lton, sailed February 25 ; West Riding from Lyttelton, sailed February 18. Consols remain at lO2f. Trie Bank and market rates of discount remain respectively at 2$ and If per cent. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £14,750,000. New Zealand securities are unchanged. For best sides of Australian hides prices are firm, especially for heavy kips.
