May 31, schooner Awaroa, 60, Greager, for Motueka June, steamer Lady Barkly, 30, Walker, for Motueka. Tlic Charles Edward is due at. Grcymoulh from Hokitika to-day. The Kennedy leaves Wesport to-night for Nelson. The Murray left Wesport at 11 o'clock last night for Nelson. She sails for West Coast ports at 3 p.m. to-morrow. The Lady Barky leave ) for Golden Bay to morrow at T3O p.m. with the San Francisco mail. The Penguin arrived at Wellington at 9*30 a.m. to day, and leave* there for Lyttelton this afternoon. The Wanaka, with the San Francisco mail, leaves Wellington for Nelson direct at 3 o'clock this afternoon, will arrive here late to-night, and sail at noon to-morrow for Picton, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The Grafton left Westport at noon to day, will arrive here tomorrow morning, nnd sail by the same tide at 10 a.m. for Wellington, Lvt'eltnn, Timaru, aud Oamaru. The Hawea arrived at Wellington at 3.30 am. to day. She leaves there at 1 p.m. tomorrow, will arrive here on Friday morning, and sail at 1 p.m. the same clay for Taranaki and Manukau. The Wallace left Wellington at 5.30 p.m. yesterday, and arrived here at 6.45 a»m. today having experienced fine weather across. She sails for Wellington direct at 7 o'clock tcnight. The Hero left Hokiiika for Newcastle and Melbourne on Monday. Shs took 66330z*. of gold from that port. A Dunedin telt grain of Monday says that Bhip desertion is very rife at Port Chalmers. The Te Anau will be the next steamer for Melbourne. • She sails frnn Wellington on Monday, and passengers for her leave here by the Wanaka to -morrow. The Union Company's time table for June has been issued. From it we learn that the Company's new steamer Manipori, 1900 tons register, 1750 h.p., will leave the Clyde about Ist November next for Melbourne and all New Zealand ports. She is expected to reach Mpi bourne in 45 days and New Zealand in £1 days. me New Zealand Herald publishes thr following Fiji news: -The Gunga, from Sydney, towed into Levuka the schooner Jessie Kelly, which was picked up totally dismasted off the Island of Kadavu, having encouniered the severe gale on the 6th ult. off Norfolk Island, which was reported by Captain Martin, of the John Hunt. The Jessie Kelly drifted 600 miles while her crew were getting proper steering gear rigged, and the vessel again under canvas. A writer in the Melbourne Leader says: — The mail which left here last Tuesday had on board a member of ona of our oldest shipping agencies, who is proceeding to London to make final arrangements with one of the largest English shipping firms for the establishment of a first-class direct service, which will have its terminna in Melbourne. Eleven large steamers, fitted up in the best Btyle, and with capacious freezing chamber, will be laid on at ouce, to initiate a fort nightly service, Rtpamicg nt the rate of eleven knots an hour. The P and O Company is now out of the running, because of its round about course; and the Orient line, with three port trips, are being monopolised by our neighbor?, so that the field i 3 clear for this new veuture.
