London, May 29. The Times in a leading article yesterday contradicts the report recently circulated that it was tbe intention of the British Government permanently to occupy the Cbamun and Pishciu Valleys after the evacuation of Candabar. Ii announces that orders have betn issued for the evacuation of the latter cost. The Tims further states that the Indian Government has warmly protested against the withdrawal of troops from tbe Afghan territory, but without influencing the determination of the Imperial Cabinet. Rumors that complications are likely to arise between Russia and Germany, consequent upou the accession of Czar Alexander 111. are attracting attention throughout Europe. The growing coldness between the two countries is being commented upou in diplomatic circles at the present time. Arrived — Hurunui from Wellington, sailed 3rd March.
