In the House of Commons to-day a question was put to the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies regarding information which lias trnnspirod as to certain expenditure incurred by the T;easurer and Controller of Revenue in Western Australia without authority. In reply Mr Grant Duff said the circumstances connected with unauthorised payments hud been under the consideration of the Government, and instructions would be sent to the Governor of the colony with a vUw to preventing further irregularities in the expenditure of public money by the Treasurer. Consols have declined to ti)2j{-. New Zeaiaod securities remain unchanged. Adelaide wheat ex warehouse has advauced to 49d, and New Zealand to 455. Adelaide flour ex warehouse remains at 338 63, The Jo? a! quantity of wheat isfloat for the United Kingdom, is 2,0-10,000 quarters. Australian boat mutton tallow has advauced to 375, best beef remains at 34s Gd. At the wool auction to day 9000 bales were offered. The tone of the sale was ! strong. Inferior and faulty wOoIS o£ all kinds were less depressed and there was more enquiry fir crossbred and scoured sorts. May 28. At the wool sale today 8900 bales were offered, The tone of the auction was firm. Trickett ac-d Kelly, his trainer have i started for New York. News is to hand from Ireland that serious riots have occurred at Mitchelstown, in County Cot k. 12,000 (sic) assembled there to oppose the service of writs for the ejectment of some tenants, and upon the police {arriving on the Eeene lighting of a very severe character took place, After much bloodshed on both sides the rioters were dispersed, and the evictions of the tenants were finally completed.
