News has been received- from Canada tbat a terrible accident occurred in the province of Ontario An excursion steamer witb several hundred persons on board capsized and one hundred and seventy-five perished. May 25. Consols remain at 102*. . New Zealand five per cent 10-40 loan 106 -, New Zealand five per cent 1889 loan 104 ; New Zealand four and a balf per cent 1879---1904 loan 102£. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 48s ; New Zealand wheat 445; Adelaide flour 33s 6d. Australian tallow, best beef 34s 6d ; best mutton 36s 6d. At the wool sales to-day 10,000 bales were offered. ' The market is firm. The trial of the editor of Di« Frthtit, issued in London, for publishing an article in March last eulogiaing the murder of the Czar concluded to-day. The. prisoner was found guilty by the jury, btlt the sentence of the Court haa been deferred. The course of business in the House of Commons ia again being seriously impedad by the Irish members, who have revived their obstructive tactics towards tbe various measures now before the House.
