The Wesleyans at Christchurch are coming out nobly in their efforts to provide for the widows and families of the ministers who perished at the wreok of the Tararua. At a meeting in the Wesleyan schoolroom on Tuesday week a committee was appointed to collect subscriptions for the families of the late Revs. Richardson and Armitage. Mr George Gould promised £100, and £220 was promised by others in the room. As an instance of journalistic enterprise, we may mention that the Melbourne Argus telegraphed to New Zealand for full telegraphic details concerning the wreck of the steamer Tararua. The Argus received 3000 words which cost it in round numbers about £150.— fW. Iv the Fiji Royal Gazette of the 19th February we notice the appointment of Mr Leighton Kesteven as assistant medical officer, at a salary of J6150 per annum. In the same gazette is a list of ministers registered for tbe celebration of marriages. Two are Church of England, one is a Jew, ten (all with European names) are Roman Catholics, and tt>e Wesleyan Methodists boast of no less than 58 " reverends." Of these, eight seem to be Europeans ; but wo somehow fancy that the Rev Mark Tagicakibau must, with the Revs. Jonah Ulniuaceva, Naphtali Qaligarogaro, and 47 more, be allowed to be aboriginals. The Melbourne Herald learns that money is still flowing into the banks at ah unprecedented rate, and that bankers are very greatly embarrassed indeed at the riches under their control, for much of wbioh tbey caonot find profitable employment,
