A meeting of Italian residents in Sydney was held on Tuesday for the purpose of expressing appreciation of the kindness shown by tbe Government to the Italian immigrants who arrived by the India. It was decided to send a report of the meeting to tbe Italian press and the Mayor of Rome with a request that the latter would make known to the people the generous offer of the New South Wales Government.
A meeting was held at Burwood yesterday night to express sympathy with Mr Archer, the Mayor of the Borough, and his family in connection with the recent proceedings against Archer for alleged misconduct ai returning officer at the last election of Alderman.
At the Assizes the only oaae of public interest was that of Preston and bis wife charged with causing the death of an orphan Honed Emma Cross, 14 years jof age, living with them.
