The captain of the Orient gave a luncheon on board that steamer in Sydney last week, the met v consisting exclusively of London delicacies of the season, all of which were subjected to refrigeration during the voyage. The close season for oysters (saya the Auckland Herald) expired on Thursday last, and the rush for " natives " was hot and strong. A large supply and of excellent quality had been brought up from the coast to meefc the anticipated demand. Notwithstanding legislative protection, it appears this favorite shellfish is not so easily procured as in former years, large quantities being now scut to the Southern provinces and to Australia.
