Melbourne, Saturday. The first day's races of the Victorian Racing Club's autumn meeting took place to-day at Flernington. For the St. Leger Stakes only Grand Flaneur and Progress started, and the former won easily in 3mins 18secs. Royal Mail won the Ascot Vale Stakes by a head. The racing throughout the day was good.
