CHURCH OF ENGLAND SERVICES IN NELSON.
To THE EdITOK OF THB " EVBNING MAIL." Sib,— l observe that the Bishop of Nelson and the incumbents of the two Episcopalian churches here are inaugurating a " Ten Days' Mission," no doubt in its way a very excellent thing, but it strikes me more permanent good would be effected, though lacking the theatrical effect of a " Ten Days' Mission," if the prelate and clergy in question would set about reforming the mode of worship prevailing in the churches referred, to, the services in which are said to be the mo6t unattractive to be found in almost any other part of this colony. Surely it is doing God's work to have such church services as will encourage attendance by elevating man above the things of earth, making the worshipper forget, in the house of God, the daily caros of the week, rather than, as here, creating amongst those who do attend church a feeling of wearinesß, and a sense of relief when the Bervico is over.— l am, &c, A Pbactical Chuechmas. [If our correspondent is really what ha professes to be, he must surely see that the best way of attaining this object ia to mov» in the matter at a parish or veatry meeting, instead of addressing anonymous letters to a newspaper.— Ed. N.EM.]
