The results of the late Civil Service examination may, the Governors think, be justly referred tt> as evidence of the character of the teaching work, for which they are indebted to the Principal and masters of the College, Of the thirteen candidates, who, from all paibs of the Colony, passed the senior examination, seven, and of the thirty-six who passed the junior examination, twelve, were pupils of the Nelson College. As none of the endowed scholarships fell in this year, the competition was confined to six Foundation, four Governor's Fees, and six 'Provincial Scholarships. The annexed table gives the names of the present holders and the date at which each scholarship in connection with the College will be free for competition : —
