CORRESPONDENCE.
To the Editor oj? the " Evening Mail." Sir, — You will earn the thanks of all those whose daily business takes them past ithe " Globe Hotel " by allowing space to point out a nuisance in that neighbourhood, from which a pedestrian ib bound to suffer at one time or other, as it only wants to be men tion'ed in order to find its remedy. I refer to a portion of the side walk on Saltwater bridge, opposite the lamp post, where the ground is exceedingly uneven, and adorned with the ruins of fencing in the shape of a few well poiuted sticks — points skyward, of course. Around these a number o£ little pools may be seen duriDg any \Vet, so that a wrong step would precipitate the unwary on to those very sticks, and most likely seriously hurt him. Another thing to whichlVould beg to draw the Surveyor's attention is the width of the road at the Globe corner. It's exnetly seventeen feet, and a vehicle coming round the corner,- to avoid one coming in the opposite direction, invariably cuts up the side-walk made by the publican, besides now and then grazing away a piece of his door post. You will see that all this could be improved at a trifling expense, even if you add a few coats of paint t) the new railing, which would preserve the timber and make it less unsightly. I am, &c, World.
