The largest casting ever made in the United States is an anvil block of 160 tons for a 17-tou steam hammer, turned out in Pittsburg, October 4tb. The block will ncl be cool enough to handle for four months. Vegetarians are proverbially temperate, but abstinence from drink of all kinds has rarely been carried so far as by a gentleman cited by the Live Stock Journal. For eighteen months this vegetarmn has drank nothing whatever, finding that fruit and milk porridge supplied sufficient liquid.
